About KLA

Ken Lindner & Associates, Inc., (“KLA”) is the premier news and hosting agency. Over the past 33 years, KLA has developed the careers of many of this country’s most highly respected, talented, and well-liked network (broadcast and cable), syndicated, and local anchors, hosts, and correspondents.

All of our agents work in BOTH the news and hosting fields, as many of our clients have the potential to work in both areas—-and in fact, many of them do. Additionally, we often hear about openings first, because of our long and very strong relationships with news and programming executives. Additionally, as we are known for finding and representing game-changing broadcast journalist stars, it pays for news and hosting execs to confide in us when they are thinking about conducting a talent search, as it’s their goal to find the most positively-impactful talent. Another reason why executives rely on us to find top-drawer broadcast journalists for them is because we have established a reservoir of trust and credibility with them over the past three decades.

The MOST important reason why our extraordinarily talented clients fulfill their professional goals and live their career dreams, is because we efficaciously practice the art of “Career Choreography” (please see the “CAREER CHOREOGRAPHY” folder), a term and process that Ken Lindner trademarked and implemented over 25 years ago. The “Career Choreography” process equips, enables, and empowers our clients to put the percentages strongly in their favor that they will attain their most treasured career positions and goals.

We are extremely proud of all of the wonderful positions that we have strategically secured for our clients over the past three decades. Please see the “SUCCESS STORIES” folder to view the incredible number of extraordinary national and local news and hosting positions that we have secured for our clients.

At KLA we Choreograph and develop careers. That’s what we do. We see the huge potential in our clients and craft the most expeditious and beneficial path for them to take so that they secure the positions of their dreams. Ken loves to use the term, “KLA-NAMASTE”, as he believes that the radiant light in our staff members’ hearts sees the radiant light and extraordinary gifts in our clients. At KLA, we are committed to turning our clients’ great potentials into a beautiful reality!

Thank you so much, for your time and for learning more about KLA!

Career Choreography™

THE STRATEGIC STEPS TO HELPING OUR CLIENTS FULFILL THEIR CAREER DREAMS

For the past 33 years, Ken Lindner & Associates, Inc. (“KLA”) has been devoted to equipping, enabling, and empowering our extraordinary clients to fulfill their great potentials in the areas of national and local news and hosting. The means by which this has been accomplished is through the process that Ken Lindner developed and trademarked over twenty-five years ago, called “Career Choreography™.” The definition of “Career Choreography” is that there is a certain logical set of strategically crafted steps and strategies that anyone can take to put the percentages strongly in their favor that they can attain any given goal or set of goals. The key is to craft the most effective set of steps and strategies so that you attain that goal or set of goals.”

The process of “Career Choreography” has propelled thousands upon thousands of individuals in a myriad of professions and careers to attain their goals and live their career dreams.

Whereas most agents merely send out client demo links to various openings, practicing the art of “Career Choreography” is far more strategic. Every career decision that is jointly made between a KLA client and agent, and each step that is ultimately taken, is done with the client’s BIG PICTURE goals and dreams squarely in mind. It’s much like playing chess, as one highly strategic, well-crafted step can beneficially impact many other future steps and results. In many instances, effectively practicing “Career Choreography” has led our clients to attain the most coveted news and hosting positions.

One “Career Choreography” strategy that KLA agents implement regularly is counseling their clients as to which specific positions will either best showcase a client’s unique gifts and strengths, or will enable them to develop and have the necessary skill-sets and experiences, respectively, so that they put themselves in the very best position to secure their dream news or hosting position(s) sometime in the future.

Should you want to learn more about “Career Choreography” and how this logical, success-evoking process can help you to fulfill your greatest potentials, Ken Lindner, the creator and master of “Career Choreography” has written the definitive book on this strategic and highly effective career development process, “Career Choreography™:  Your Step-by-Step Guide to Finding the Right Job and Achieving Huge Success and Happiness.”

Ken Lindner owns and is the Chief Executive Officer of the world’s most successful and well-respected newscaster and host representation company, Ken Lindner & Associates, Inc.

Ken graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University in Social Anthropology. His course selection was centered on the human thought process and conflict resolution. During his college career, he wrote an honors thesis on decision-making that received national attention. This paper was based upon empirical research done with hundreds of respondents. He studied how these individuals thought, ordered their values, and made their decisions when exposed to certain situations and stimuli. This thesis was also awarded a grade of Magna Cum Laude.

While at Harvard, Ken was the Captain and the #1 player on the Varsity Tennis Team. He captured the Princeton Invitational Indoor Intercollegiate Doubles Championship, won numerous singles and doubles tennis titles, and defeated Arthur Ashe in a match that took place one year before Ashe won his Wimbledon Singles Title. In addition, he was the Men’s National Open Paddle Tennis Singles and Doubles Champion.

Ken then attended Cornell Law School, so that he could further study conflict resolution and learn to think through and analyze issues in a more orderly fashion. It was there that he developed his strong interest in the First Amendment. In 1978, he was awarded his Juris Doctorate degree.

Upon graduation from Cornell, he worked as an attorney in the Business Affairs Department of the William Morris Agency. Within two years, he became Assistant to the President, and then an agent in the News Department. Thereafter, he was promoted to Vice President in charge of the West Coast News Division. In 1988, he left William Morris and founded Ken Lindner & Associates, Inc. Approximately 95 percent of his clients followed him.

During the past 30 years, Ken has specialized in all areas of broadcasting, i.e., as a talent representative and as an attorney who has negotiated and worked on more than 3,000 broadcasting and other television-related contracts. He has derived his greatest sense of accomplishment by helping to develop the careers of some of this county’s most prominent and influential current and next-generation broadcast journalists. Ken has devoted his career to seeing what “can be” in broadcast journalists. (“Namasté KLA”) He loves identifying extraordinary talent, helping his clients grow through crafting personalized multi-media and multi-platform Choreographies, and placing clients in venues that showcase their unique gifts and strengths.

Ken drew on his Broadcasting expertise for his first book, Broadcasting Realities (1999), which is considered the standard in the psychology of broadcasting for broadcast journalists and those aspiring to be on-air. The aim of the book is to acquaint and equip his readers with the requisite knowledge to reach informed and enhancing career decisions. All royalties from this book have been donated to charity.

Thereafter, Ken wrote Crunch Time™: 8 Steps to Making the Right Life Decisions At The Right Times (2004). This book enables and empowers the reader to make constructive and self-enhancing career and life decisions.

Ken lives in Los Angeles with his wonderful wife, Melinda, and their twins, Mary and Tristan.

Rob Jordan re-joined Ken Lindner and Associates in 2011 as an agent and executive. Rob brought with him 20+ years of agenting experience as well as a sizable roster of talent, after ten successful years of operating Rob Jordan Talent Management.

Rob first joined KLA in 1992 and was the first agent hired to have day-to-day TV newsroom experience. He successfully grew the company’s reach into medium and large markets while aggressively seeking up and coming talent in untapped markets. Rob has an impressive track record of career management with clients working at the networks and local tv markets across the country. He discovered national talent such as Nancy O’Dell (Charleston, SC), Craig Melvin of NBC News (Columbia, SC), Kelly Cobiella of NBC News (San Luis Obispo), Michelle Miller of CBS News (Columbia, SC), Jay Harris at ESPN (Pittsburgh) and countless testaments of career choreography success.

Prior to joining KLA, Rob worked at then Disney-owned KCAL-TV in Los Angeles as an executive assistant to the news management team from 1989 – 1992. He was involved in the start-up of the first three-hour prime-time newscast in the country and assisted senior management in the hiring of over 100 news staffers. He worked closely with the business manager on talent negotiations, contracts and budgeting. He met Ken Lindner in 1989 first over the phone, as KCAL was on a hiring spree and KLA represented many of the station’s anchor and reporter hires, including the incomparable Pat Harvey, who is still with the station today (and STILL a client of KLA!)

Rob is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He and his wife Lisa have three children and live in Fort Mill, SC, just outside of Charlotte. He serves on the board of Victory Sports Outreach, a family recreational sports ministry in Fort Mill and is part of the pax of F3Nation, a men’s fitness, fellowship and faith community leadership group.

Michelle joined Ken Lindner and Associates in December of 2012 as an agent representing news, host, sports and weather talent.

Michelle’s passion for discovering and helping talent comes from many years of working on both sides of the camera. Prior to joining KLA, Michelle worked as a broadcaster (anchor/reporter) and producer at CNN in Washington, D.C., WHDH-TV in Boston, and E! Entertainment Television in both Los Angeles and New York.

Michelle comes full-circle with KLA as she was formerly represented by Ken Lindner during her days of anchoring and reporting in Boston, Los Angeles and New York. As a consultant and talent recruiter with The Broadcast Image Group for eight years, Michelle successfully placed talent at many local news stations and syndicated programs throughout the country. Her experience both in front of and behind the camera, gives Michelle a unique agent perspective to identify closely with on air talent as well as understand management needs.

A native Texan, Michelle graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Trinity University. She lives in Austin, Texas.

Ashley Traoré joins Ken Lindner & Associates bringing over eight years of media & entertainment industry experience. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Ashley began her career immediately after, working the newsroom at CNN in Atlanta, GA.

Ashley has since worked and collaborated with celebrities such as Bill Maher on the hit show Real Time with Bill Maher, where she served as a vital entity of production and talent efforts. Her passion for the entertainment industry drives her notable dedication and desire for excellence.

Recently returning from CBS News in the fast paced world of New York, NY, Ashley is looking forward to putting her experience to fast use by placing great talent at Ken Lindner & Associates. Ashley currently resides in the neighborhood of Koreatown with her husband and two dogs.

One of the best discoveries that Ken has ever made, was hiring his Executive Assistant, Shari Freis. Ken worked with Shari for over fifteen years, when Shari was the extraordinarily effective assistant to the long line of KCBS News Directors. It is in great part, because of Shari and her wonderful organizational and people skills, that Ken has been able to be as effective as he has been over the last few years.

Shari was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado at Boulder, with a degree in Psychology and Secondary Education. After teaching high school for a year, she fulfilled her life-long dream of moving to California. A professed “news junkie” since college, Shari won an RTNA of Southern California Golden Mike Award in 1994, for her work on KCBS-TV’s continuous coverage of the Northridge earthquake.

When not traveling (Shari’s number one passion!), she can be seen hiking in the hills above Los Angeles. Her most recent feat was hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. She also enjoys going to movies, concerts, and the opera, and is an avid Denver Broncos fan. An important part of Shari’s life is her volunteer work with Concern Foundation, a charity dedicated to funding cancer research worldwide.
